In these trying times – December 2008 – when the people of Gaza are being massacred by the Israeli Genocide Machine; it is important for all the Muslims to remember and pray for the people and those defending Gaza and Palestine and elsewhere against those who wish them harm.

In the Sahifa as-Sajjadiyyah al-Kamila of Imam Ali ibn al-Husayn, Zayn al-Abedeen(A) (also known as the Psalms of Islam); we find a very beautiful supplication; called the Supplication for the People of the Frontiers, which is presented here with a very beautiful Arabic recitation from al-Manar TV by Husayn Ghareeb; along with English subtitles:

O God,
bless Muhammad and his Household,
fortify the frontiers of the Muslims through Thy might,
support their defenders through Thy strength,
and lavish upon them gifts through Thy wealth!

O God,
bless Muhammad and his Household,
increase their number,
hone their weapons,
guard their territory,
defend their midst,
unite their throng,
arrange their affair,
send them supplies in a steady string,
undertake Thyself to suffice them with provisions,
support them with victory,
help them with patience,
and give them subtlety in guile!

O God,
bless Muhammad and his Household,
give them the knowledge of that of which they are ignorant,
teach them what they do not know,
and show them what they do not see!

O God,
bless Muhammad and his Household,
make them forget when they meet the enemy
to remember this cheating and delusive world of theirs,
erase from their hearts the thought of enchanting possessions,
place the Garden before their eyes,
and display to their sight that part of it
which Thou hast prepared for them
- the homes of everlastingness and mansions of honour,
the beautiful houris,
the rivers gushing forth with all sorts of drinks,
the trees hanging, low with all kinds of fruits -
lest any of them think of turning his back
or suggest to himself to flee his opponent!

O God,
defeat their enemy through that,
trim their nails from them,
separate them from their weapons,
pull out the firm ties from their hearts,
keep them far away from their stores,
bewilder them in their roads,
turn them astray from their direction,
cut off reinforcements from them,
chop them down in numbers,
fill their hearts with terror,
hold back their hands from stretching forth,
tie back their tongues from speaking,
scatter by them the ones behind them
make them a lesson for those beyond them,
and through their degradation
cut off the hopes of those who come after them!

O God,
make the wombs of their women barren,
dry up the loins of their men,
cut off the breeding of their mounts and their cattle,
and permit not their sky to rain
or their earth to grow!

O God, through that
strengthen the prowess of the People of Islam,
fortify their cities,
increase their properties,
give them ease
from their fighting
to worship Thee
and from their warfare
to be alone with Thee,
so that none will be worshipped
in the regions of the earth but Thee
and no forehead of theirs may be rubbed in dust
for less than Thee!

O God,
send out the Muslims of every region on raids against
the idolaters who face them!
Reinforce them with angels in ranks from Thee,
till the idolaters are routed by them to the end of the land,
slain in Thy earth or taken captive,
or till they admit that Thou art God,
other than whom there is no god,
Thou alone, who hast no associate!

O God,
include in this Thy enemies in the regions of the lands,
and the rest of the idol-worshipping nations,
those whose names and attributes are concealed,
but whom Thou countest in Thy cognizance
and overseest through Thy power!

O God,
distract the idolaters from reaching for the borders of the Muslims
through the idolaters,
bar them from cutting them down
through being cut down,
and hold them back from massing together against them
through dissension!

O God,
empty their hearts of security
and their bodies of strength,
distract their hearts from thinking of stratagems,
make their limbs too feeble for clashing with men,
make them too cowardly for contending with champions,
send against them a troop of Thy angels
with some of Thy severity …

O God,
empty their hearts of security
and their bodies of strength,
distract their hearts from thinking of stratagems,
make their limbs too feeble for clashing with men,
make them too cowardly for contending with champions,
send against them a troop of Thy angels
with some of Thy severity
as Thou didst on the Day of Badr,
so that through it Thou mayest
cut off their roots,
harvest their thorns,
and disperse their number!

O God,
mix their waters with pestilence
and their foods with maladies,
hurl down their cities,
harass them with peltings,
hinder them through drought,
place their supplies in the most ill-omened part of Thy earth
and the farthest from them,
bar them from its fortresses,
and strike them with constant hunger and painful illness!

O God,
if a warrior from the people of Thy creed
wars against them
or a struggler from the followers of Thy prescriptions
struggles against them
so that Thy religion may be the highest,
Thy party the strongest,
and Thy share the fullest,
cast ease to him,
arrange his affair,
attend to him by granting success,
select for him his companions,
strengthen his back,
lavish upon him livelihood,
give him enjoyment of joyous vitality,
cool for him the heat of yearning,
give him sanctuary from the gloom of loneliness,
make him forget the remembrance of wife and child,
pass along to him an excellent intention,
attend to him with well-being,
make safety his companion,
release him from cowardice,
inspire him with boldness,
provide him with strength,
support him with help,
teach him right conduct and the norms of the Sunna,
point him straight in judgement,
remove from him hypocrisy,
purify him from seeking fame,
and make his thinking and remembrance,
his departing and his staying,
be in Thee and for Thee!
When he stands in ranks before Thy enemy and his enemy,
make them few in his eye,
diminish their importance in his heart,
give him a turn to prevail over them,
not them a turn to prevail over him!
But if Thou sealest him with felicity
and decreest for him martyrdom,
then let it be after
he has exterminated Thy enemies by slaying,
captivity has afflicted them,
the borders of the Muslims are secure,
and Thy enemy has turned his back in flight!

O God,
and if a Muslim should
take the place of a warrior or a soldier in his home,
attend to those left behind in his absence,
help him with a portion of his property,
assist him with equipment,
hone him for the struggle,
send along with him a supplication for his purpose,
or guard his honour in his absence,
reward him with the like of his reward
measure for measure,
like for like,
and recompense him for his act with an immediate compensation
through which he will hasten to
the profit of what he has sent forth
and the joy of what he has given,
till the present moment takes him to
the bounty Thou hast granted to him
and the generosity Thou hast prepared for him!

O God,
and if the affair of Islam
should worry a Muslim
and the alliance of the idolaters’ against Islam
should grieve him,
so that he has the intention to go to war
and is about to enter the struggle,
but frailty keeps him seated,
neediness keeps him waiting,
a mishap delays him,
or an obstruction prevents him from his wish,
write his name
among the worshipers,
make incumbent for him
the reward of the strugglers,
and place him among the ranks
of the martyrs and the righteous!

O God,
bless Muhammad, Thy slave and Thy messenger,
and the Household of Muhammad,
with a blessing high above all other blessings,
towering beyond all other salutations,
a blessing whose end is never reached
and whose number is never cut off,
like the most perfect of Thy blessings that has passed
to any one of Thy friends!
Thou art All-kind, Praiseworthy,
the Originator who takes back again,
Accomplisher of what Thou desirest.

Please don’t forget the oppressed throughout the world in your supplications and prayers; we might not be able to help them directly in anyway; but be sure that Allah has promised – and He never breaks His promise; that if a believer calls unto Him and asks him to solve an issue; you can be sure that Allah IS LISTENING AND WILL ASSIST.

If you cast your minds back to the events of the 33 day war in July 2006 that Israel waged against Lebanon; it was because of the power of Dua – the power of supplication and beseeching Allah for assistance – that resulting in the amazing victory of the Islamic Resistance against the Zionist Invasion Forces.

Also; please don’t forget to pray for the speedy return of our Master(AJ); al-Hujjah ibn al-Hasan(AJ); the one who will fill the Earth with Justice and Equality; as it is filled with Injustice and Tyranny!

Every year Muslims and non-Muslims from different walks of life unite under the banner of Quds Day to show their solidarity with the oppressed of the world and in particular the suffering people of Palestine. Rallies and demonstrations take place in many countries around the world including Iran, Iraq, Bahrain, Lebanon, Britain, USA, Australia, France, Nigeria, South Africa and Occupied Palestine.

Founded by the late Imam Khumayni(A), and continued, supported and nurtured by the Leader of the Muslim Ummah, Imam Khamenei(HA), it is an event that symbolizes the undying spirit to eradicate injustice around the world.

In August 1979, the year of the victory of the Glorious Islamic Revolution, Imam Khumayni(A) declared:

I invite Muslims all over the globe to consecrate the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadhan as The Universal Day Day of Quds and to proclaim the international solidarity of Muslims in support of the legitimate rights of the Muslim people of Palestine.

For many years, I have been notifying the Muslims of the danger posed by the usurper Israel which today has intensified its savage attacks against the Palestinian brothers and sisters, and which, in the south of Lebanon in particular, is continually bombing Palestinian homes in the hope of crushing the Palestinian struggle.

I ask all the Muslims of the world and the Muslim governments to join together to sever the hand of this usurper and its supporters.

I call on all the Muslims of the world to select as al-Quds Day the last Friday in the holy month of Ramadhan  - which is itself a determining period and can also be the determiner of the Palestinian people’s fate -- and through a ceremony demonstrating the solidarity of Muslims world-wide, announce their support for the legitimate rights of the Muslim people.

I ask God Almighty for the victory of the Muslims over the enemies.

According to information received and verified by the Islamic Digest, the Office of the Leader of the Muslim Ummah, Imam Khamenei(HA) in the United Kingdom, the Islamic Centre of England, the first of Shahr Ramadhan 1431 will be on the 12th of August 2010.

The full text of the official announcement follows:

The Islamic Centre of England wishes to congratulate all Muslims of the world on the arrival of the blessed month of Ramadhan.
We also wish to inform all believers that according to evidence proving the impossibility to see the new moon in UK on Tuesday 10th of August, the last day of Sha’ban is therefore Wednesday 11th of August.
Consequently the first day of the blessed month of Ramadhan will be Thursday 12th of August.
We take this opportunity to give to all our best wishes.

Dua al-Iftitah was taught by our twelth Imam(AJ), Imam al-Hujjah(AJ) for Shias to recite every night during the month of Ramadhan.  The Dua is excellent for moulding man’s attitude towards his Creator as it discusses many aspects of the wrethedness of the human being, and the grace of Allah. The Du’a can be divided into four parts:

1. The first section of the Du’a describes different qualities of Allah, and reveals the graciousness and love of Allah for the human being.
2. Salutations to Divine leaders -- From Prophet Muhammad(S) to Imam Hasan al-Askari(A)
3. Saluatations to Imam al-Mahdi(AJ), and yearning for a fair and Just government whereby Islam and it’s followers are honoured and the hypocrites and enemies of Islam are rendered impotent and useless
4. Complaining to Allah, for the departure of Prophet Muhammad(S), and the Ghaybah (occultation) of our beloved Imam al-Hujjah(AJ).

O Allah, I begin the glorification with praise of Thee;
Thou, from Thy bounties, gives out freely the truth and salvation;
I know for certain that Thou art the most merciful in
disposition of forgiveness and mercy,
[but] very exacting at the time of giving
exemplary punishment and chastisement to wrongdoers,
the Omnipotent in the domain of absolute power and might.

O Allah, Thou has given me permission to invoke Thee and beseech Thee,
so listen, O Hearer, to my words of praise,
and give a favourable reply to my supplication,
and minimize my falling into misery,
O the often-forgiving.

O my Allah,
many a trouble Thou hath removed;
many a sorrow hath Thou dispelled;
many a misery hath Thou mitigated;
and at all times Thou spreadeth out mercy,
and cutteth short the tightening circles of misfortunes.

All praise be to Allah,
Who has not taken unto Himself a wife,
nor a son,
and Who has no partner in sovereignty,
nor any protecting friend through dependence.
Magnify Him with all magnificence.

All praise be to Allah,
with full gratitude for all his bounties.

All praise be to Allah,
Who has no opposition to His rule,
nor any challenge to His commands.

All praise be to Allah,
Who has no counsel to meddle with His operation of creation,
nor is there anything similar to Him in His greatness.

All praise be to Allah,
Whose commandments operate in Creation;
His glory is evident through love and kindness.

His distinct overflowing generosity is freely available
through His unlimited bestowals which do not exhaust His
resources,
and He does not swell the numerous benefits
except because of generosity and kindness.
Verily He is mighty, generous.

O Allah, I ask for some from much,
in the midst of my very many needs

for which I entirely depend on Thee,
and, since eternity, Thou art able to do without it
but for me it is a titanic effort
and for Thee is very easy and simple.

O Allah, truly, when Thou pardon my sins,
overlook my mistakes,
take a lenient view of my disorderly conduct,
cover up my foul actions,
show consideration in spite of my many transgressions
committed willfully or negligently,
I am tempted to ask for that which I do not deserve,
from Thee Who, through Thy mercy, gives me the daily bread
provides me with that which is suitable for me,
through Thy control;
and distinguishes me with a favourable reply to my requests.

So I persist in calling out,
believing in Thee,
and I invoke Thee,
talking familiarly, not afraid, nor shy,
but assured of Thy love and kindness whenever I turn to Thee

A temporary setback,
and I, out of ignorance, begin to despair,
although perhaps slowing down may be a blessing in disguise.
because Thou alone knows [all] the consequences.
I know no generous master who is more accommodating to
dissatisfied servants that Thou art to me.

O Lord, Thou giveth an invitation but I turn it down.
Thou becometh familiar with me but I do not care for Thee.
Thou loveth me but I do not correspond to Thee as if Thou are
overreaching me.
Yet Thou doth not abstain from bestowing favours and blessings
on me from Thy mercy and generosity
so have mercy on Thy ignorant servant
Verily Thou art generous and kind.

Praise be To Allah the owner of sovereignty,
Who sets the course of the skies and the stars
controls the winds,
causes the daybreak,
and administers authority,
the Lord of the worlds.

Praise be to Allah
for His indulgence in the wake of His all-awareness.

Praise be to Allah
for His amnesty ensuing from His omnipotence.

Praise be To Allah
for the respite He allows In spite of provocation.
He is able to do what He wills.

Praise be to Allah, the creator of all the created beings,
Who makes sustenance freely available,
starts the day,
the owner of glory, might, favours, and bounties,
Who is far away, invisible, and nearest,
so near that He is fully aware of the whispered secrets,
the Blessed, the Praised.

Praise be to Allah, Who has no equal to challenge Him,
nor is there an image comparable to Him,
nor a helper to assist Him.

He tames the powerful by His force,
and disgraced are the terrible before His greatness;
so He, through His power, fulfils that which He wills.

Praise be to Allah, Who gives answer to me whenever I call Him;
covers up my shortcomings yet I disobey Him;
gives me the largest part of the bounties yet I want more.
Many favours He has sanctioned;
many terrible dangers He has averted;
and many blossoming joys he has made available for me.
Therefore, I sing His praises and recite His glorifications.

Praise be to Allah.
None can disclose anything hidden by Him;
none can shut the doors kept open by Him;
no one who makes a request is sent away disappointed by Him;
and no one who looks long and attentively is deluded in his
hopes.

Praise be to Allah, Who gives protection to the frightened;
comes to the help of the upright;
promotes the cause of the weak and the enslaved;
annihilates the autocrats;
destroys rulers and appoints the ‘awaited savours’ in their place.

Praise be to Allah, Who breaks everything belonging to the oppressors;
puts an end to the tyrants;
watches over the fugitives;
brings assistance to those who cry out for help;
meets and clears up the demands of the needy beseechers;
supports the faithful.

Praise be to Allah.
In his awe-inspiring fear the heavens and its dwellers tremble and      shiver;
the earth and its inhabitants shake and quiver;
the oceans and all that floats and swims in its waters
flow together in excitement and tumult.

Praise be to Allah, Who has guided us to this.
We could not truly have been led aright if Allah had not guided us.

Praise be to Allah, Who creates but is not created;
gives subsistence but needs no provisions;
gives food to eat but takes no nourishment;
makes the living dead and brings the dead to life;
and He is the everliving, there is no death for Him;
in His hands is all the good.

And He is able to do all things.

O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad,
Thy servant, Messenger, confidant, friend, beloved intimate,
mercy unto all the created beings,
bearer of Thy sacraments,
quotient of Thy messengers,
the most superior, the exquisite, the most handsome,
the most perfect, the upright, the more prospering,
the more pleasant, the thoroughly purified, the sublime;
who has more and better blessings, advantages, mercies,
affections and salutations
than Thou made available to any one of Thy servants,
prophets, messengers, friends,
and those honoured by Thee from among Thy created being.

O Allah send blessings on ‘Ali
the Leader of the Faithful,
the successor to the Messenger of the Lord of the worlds,
Thy servant, Thy beloved representative,
brother of Thy Messenger,
Thy decisive argument over mankind,
Thy most important sign,
the great news from Thee.

O Allah, send blessings on the truthful pure Fatima,
the chosen leader of the women of the worlds.

O Allah, send blessings on the sons of ‘the mercy unto the worlds’,
the leaders and guides,
the Imams al-Hasan and al-Husayn,
the leaders of the dwellers of Paradise.

O Allah, send blessings on the Leaders of the Muslims,
‘Ali ibn al-Husayn,
Muhammad ibn ‘Ali,
Jafar ibn Muhammad,
Musa ibn Jafar,
‘Ali ibn Musa,
Muhammad ibn’Ali,
‘Ali ibn Muhammad,
al-Hasan ibn’Ali,
and his son, the rightly guided Guide,
Thy decisive argument over Thy servants,
Thy trustworthy confidant on Thy earth;
blessings, numerous, and for ever.

O Allah, send blessings on the Custodian of thy commandments,
the vigilant Guardian, the reliable Patron, the awaited Justice,
surrounded by Thy favourite angels,
assisted by the Holy Spirit.

O Lord of the worlds.
O Allah, send him to call the people unto Thy Book for      establishing Thy religion,
and make him succeed in the earth,
as Thou caused those who were before him to succeed,
and establish for him his faith
which Thou has approved for him,
and give him in exchange safety after fear.
He serves Thee.

He ascribes nothing as partner unto Thee.

O Allah, give him power and authority,
and through him strengthen the people.
Give him the necessary assistance,
and through him support the people,
and make him prevail over allya final decisive victory,
and delegate him Thy controlling authority.

O Allah, give currency to Thy religion,
and the way of life of Thy Prophet,
through him till nothing which is just and genuine
is kept concealed from any human being.

O Allah, we ardently desire that in [his] kind, just, and fair era,
Thou should reactivate Islam and stimulate its followers,
and humble and humiliate the imposters and their double-dealing,
and include us among those who invite people unto Thy      obedience,
and lead them to Thy approved path,
and give us the good of this world and the world to come.

O Allah, let us bear out and hold up
that which Thou maketh known to us as the truth,
and let us be fully aware of that which we fall short of doing.

O Allah, through him, set in order our disorder;
gather and unite our flock;
stitch together our sundered separation;
turn our want and poverty into sufficiency;
lift us up from our degradation;
free us from our misery;
pull us out from our debts;
help us to get out from the ditch of cares and sorrows;
fill the gap created by confusion among us;
let our difficulties be easy to deal with;
refine our substance and style;
untie our ropes and straps;
let our efforts succeed well and secure success;
make us fulfill our promises;
give answers to our prayers;
listen to our requests;
cause us to obtain the good of this world and the hereafter;
give us much and more than our expectations,
O the best of givers and bestowers;
and cleanse our hearts,
unburden our emotions from hate and anger,
and, in the event of dispute in the matter of truth,
show us the right path.

Verily, Thou guides whoever Thou will to the right path.
Let us, through him, get the better of Thy enemies and our opponents,
O True God.
Be it so.

O Allah, we feel uneasy about and are disturbed by
the departure of our Prophet,
Thy blessings be on him and on his family,
the absence of our guardian-friend,
too many enemies,
our numerical scarcity,
widespread disorder,
and the vicissitudes of time.

So send blessings on Muhammad and on his family,
and help us to overcome this state of affairs at once.

Disperse the ominous clouds hanging over our heads;
lend a helping hand to achieve success;
bring in the rule of justice and fair play;
make us bright, free from grief;
and take care of us.
Through Thy mercy, O most Merciful.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah stressed on Sunday that its part would not allow anyone, whoever he was, to hurt the dignity of the resistance. This resistance, according to Sayyed Nasrallah, was able to crush the new Middle East plan in 2006.

Speaking in a ceremony honoring the martyr’s children at Shahed Institution in Beirut’s southern suburb, The Sayyed started his speech by paying tribute to the resistance martyrs.

“For 30 years, the martyrs have been the most important symbols of this country. They are the best victory makers of this nation. They protected its dignity and presence… We, as a resistance movement, have offered the most precious [of our sons]. My leader in the Resistance, Sayyed Abbas al-Moussawi and my brother in jihad, Imad Moghniyyeh, are the most precious people I have lost,” his eminence said.

Sayyed Nasrallah added that with these sacrifices, the Resistance is the most precious of what we have, stressing that “we will not allow anyone in the world -- small or big -to hurt its dignity.”

Hezbollah Secretary General continued, “All plots that threatened Lebanon, Palestine and the region were stopped by the Resistance. The Resistance prevented the plot in 1982 and the one in 2000 that aimed to accomplish the project of [building a] greater Israel [by invading Lebanon]. In 2006, the Resistance put an end to the new Middle East project, which was highly funded. This Resistance made Lebanon in the heart of the regional equation after it was inferior. It made Lebanon a player.”

His eminence stressed that the Resistance made Lebanon strong and that was why officials come to the country, adding that this Resistance was the reason that leaders meet Lebanese officials abroad.

Sayyed Nasrallah also thanked all people who helped the Resistance in Lebanon, from Iran to Syria to all honorable people, however, he stressed that the Resistance was the one that fought. He also said that unfortunately everyone, but some Lebanese, knows the value of this Resistance, including Lebanon’s enemies who are planning to take it away.

“They may bargain on gas and oil but they can never bargain on the Resistance,” his eminence stressed, adding that the war on the Resistance will continue, and (US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey) Feltman himself admitted this before Congress.

Sayyed Nasrallah also said that the international community tried to bring the resistance power to an end in the 2006 July War and failed. “I will talk about this during the victory ceremony, which was postponed to August 3 upon President Michel Sleiman’s request because he will receive prominent guests in Lebanon on July 30.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei(HA) says the intelligence services of the US, Israel and Britain were the main supporters of the recent terrorist attacks in Iran.

“One of the main objectives the enemy pursued through the terrorist attack in Iran’s southeastern city of Zahedan was to create division and religious dissension,” Imam Khamenei(HA) said on Wednesday (July 21, 2010).

At least 27 people lost their lives and more than 100 others were injured after two bombs went off in quick succession outside the Zahedan Grand Mosque in Sistan-Baluchestan Province on July 15, 2010. The attack has widely been blamed on extremist Wahabis and Salafis trained by US intelligence in Pakistan.

Imam Khamenei(HA) stressed that the Islamic Republic would not allow arrogant powers to obtain their objectives and urged all Iranian officials to “firmly and seriously” confront the enemies of the country’s solidarity and security.

“Their animosity with the Islamic Republic stems from Iran’s adherence to Islam and its repeated call for unity, strength and Islamic dignity,” the Leader(HA) said.

“[The Islamic Republic] is now the target of the evil conspiracies of the intelligence services of the US, the Zionist regime and Britain, who falsely believe that Iran will become entangled in religious dissension and Shia-Sunni conflict,” Imam Khamenei(HA) added.

The Leader(HA) stressed that the emergence and spread of “wild and blind terrorism” had been fathered by the evil policies conspiracies of the US and Britain and their mercenaries.

Imam Khamenei(HA) urged all Muslims to fight terrorism, saying it is an “ominous offspring” and a “clear sample of Moharebeh (waging war on God).”

“The Shia and Sunni elite in all Muslim and Arab countries should clarify the enemy’s objectives in creating and expanding sectarian terrorism. They should forewarn Muslims of the grave danger of religious dissention, which is the desired goal of the enemies of Islam,” the Leader(HA) stressed.

Imam Khamenei(HA) said the global arrogance aims to sow the seeds of discord among Muslims using Wahhabis and the likes of this extremist group.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah was regarded as Hezbollah’s spiritual guide after it was founded in 1982.

A vocal critic of the United States, Ayatollah Fadlallah used to slam US warmongering policies in the Middle East, particularly its alliance with Israel.

Born in Najaf, Iraq, Fadlallah studied Islamic sciences in Najaf before moving to Lebanon in 1952.
In the following decades, he delivered many lectures, engaged in intense scholarship, wrote dozens of books, founded several Islamic religious schools, and established the Mabarrat Association.

Through that association he established a public library, a women’s cultural center, and a medical clinic.
The Grand Ayatollah was the target of several assassination attempts, including the CIA-sponsored and  Saudi-funded March 8, 1985 Beirut car bombing that killed 80 people.

There are many Hadiths stating that in order to have your supplication granted start your supplication with Salawat and end it with Salawat.

Because, Salawat is an absolutely granted supplication and Allah (swt) is more merciful

than to accept the beginning of your supplication and the end of it , but does not grant the one in the middle.

As a matter of fact, all of the Islamic rules are harmonious with the natural laws. That’s why Islam is called the religion of nature (Fetrat). The universe is constantly asking the blessings for the ‘blessing of the world’ and therefore the believers are also recommended to follow this natural law.

This day marks a major milestone in the struggle of the Resistance bloc against Zionist occupation and American hegemony, it revives the hope of the millions of Palestinians living across the world, who have been forcibly evicted from their homes, have had their inheritance stolen, and who now live in perpetual exile, without a nationality, without a nation.

To understand this, we must examine a little history:

When the Zionist Entity was initially established in 1948, the Arab and Muslim world was caught off guard. History is a witness to the various ill-conceived knee jerk reactions of various Arab and Muslim leaders. For the most part, the strategies employed by the various Arab and Muslim leaders failed, in some cases miserably, and didn’t lead to any positive or tangible gain for the Muslims, Arabs and above all the Palestinians. Indeed in some cases these actions led to results that were detrimental to the Palestinians overall wellbeing.

In the midst of all of this, at the start of 1979, a movement that had started well before 1963 within the cloisters of the Islamic Seminaries in Iran attained victory. The Islamic Republic of Iran was established under the leadership of the late Imam Ruhullah Khomeini.

From the start Imam Khomeini’s foreign policy and stance towards the Zionist Entity and her allies was very simple. Imam Khomeini and the newly formed Islamic Republic of Iran, said clearly that they refused to recognise or have any sort of relations with the Zionist Entity. Rather, they recognised the Palestinians as the rightful inhabitants of the land of Palestine. Indeed after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Tehran became the first capital to host a Palestinian Embassy, thereby formally cutting all diplomatic ties and recognition of the Zionist Entity.

The stance taken by Imam Khomeini, and the Islamic Republic of Iran provided a new injection of morale to the beleaguered Palestinian resistance movement, and dealt a massive public relations blow to the Zionists and their allies – at the very least within the Arab and Muslim world.

When the Zionists invaded Lebanon in 1982 in an attempt to remove the Palestinians who were making their resistance from various areas in Southern Lebanon, initially, they met some – albeit minimal resistance, and as a result were successful in occupying much of south Lebanon, and forcing the bulk of the Palestinian resistance out of Lebanon and into its neighbouring countries such as Syria, Jordan and elsewhere.

However, the Zionists then made a fundamental and to all intents and purposes catastrophic mistake with regard to Lebanon. They decided they would stay. They felt they were “comfortable” in Lebanon. Amongst the reasons that analysts cite for this was the fact that Lebanon was unique in the Arab world in that it had a significant non-Muslim population, as a result it was felt that Lebanon saw it’s alliances more with the so-called Christian West, and less-so with the Muslim East.

What the Zionists didn’t count on was a fundamental truth that holds for any person, from any creed, from any nation, from any culture; when invaded, when violated, when harmed, after the initial shock of the trauma has dissipated, the oppressed people will fight back. Initially they will be few in number, but over time, as the atrocities and crimes of the invader multiply and the length of occupation increases, that resistance will grow, indeed it will grow exponentially.

At this point it is crucial to understand what exactly constitutes a resistance. A resistance is not merely the soldiers who go to the battle field and fight the invading enemy, the resistance is the mother, the wife, the child, the grandfather, the grandmother and so on, who give succour to their youth, who give their full support to the fighters, who dress their sons, husbands and fathers in the clothes of resistance and with an open heart and happiness encourage them to go to the battle front and fight the invaders and those who have usurped the land from the innocents.

The resistance is an organic movement, that grows with every second the invaders stays, that growth is exponential. With each passing day the resistance becomes stronger and stronger. Once it reaches critical mass, that growth becomes unstoppable, both locally in the occupied lands and abroad, as its influence spreads to its neighbours and even further to all the oppressed people who are fighting to liberate themselves from the yoke of occupation. Be it a direct occupation as is the case in Palestine, or a psychological occupation like that in the Western World.

The struggle of the Lebanese, their subsequent victory in 2000, the eviction of the Zionist occupier from the bulk of occupied Lebanese territory is testament to this absolute truth.
This truth was further reinforced in 2006, when the Zionists felt that they could rekindle their project in Lebanon, six years after having been ejected. The Zionists once again attempted to re-invade Lebanon, using the kidnapping of three Israeli soldiers as their pretext for war. But again, in 33 days they were forced to leave Lebanon, with none of their war objectives achieved, and with their tail between their legs.

Indeed in 2006, they saw that they were no longer fighting a faction of the Lebanese community, rather they were fighting the entire nation, the Army, the People and the Resistance were all together as one in defending their nation against the Zionist aggressors. They were now fighting an enemy capable of surprising them, and hitting them where they felt most secure.

In 2006, the Zionists saw that they could destroy the buildings and physical infrastructure of Lebanon, but they could not break the spirit of the people who had allied themselves with the Resistance.

They saw that regardless of whether they bombed the civilian areas of the Daheih Jnoubiyyeh (Southern Suburbs) of Beirut, or the Beirut Airport, or the Biqaa Valley, or the village of Qana, or anywhere in Lebanon, they saw that they couldn’t break the spirit of the people or their loyalty to the Resistance.

Even with the world’s media supporting the Zionists in its so-called “War on Terror”, with the full backing of Washington, London, Paris and indeed Cairo and Riyadh; the Zionists saw that the people were looking constantly to the local Lebanese channels for accurate news, and above all they were looking at al-Manar TV, the television channel of the Resistance.
In places where al-Manar couldn’t be received for reasons that are part of the larger psychological and technological war against the Resistance; the masses were moving to the new media; to the internet and obtaining their news and information from places like YouTube, various blogs and independent news sites, as well as from people on the ground in Lebanon through emails and SMS messages.

Information now had a grassroots distribution channel, not organised but rather organic, which made it that much more resilient and reliable; there were no ulterior motives; only to get the information out of the crimes that the Zionists were committing. Like the internet it relied on, this information chain was and indeed is virtually unbreakable, as long as one person with a cell phone remained in Lebanon, as long as one person had an internet connection, the information and news could be given to the people. The lies of the Zionists could be exposed.

The Zionists aware of the impact of al-Manar TV, the television channel of the Resistance, chose to target the channel directly – an act that is clearly a violation of international law and without a doubt a war crime – but they saw that their flattening of the al-Manar Television Complex in Beirut’s Southern Suburbs, resulted in the channelling being off the air for less than 5 minutes.

The Zionists on the online front, also attempted to take down web sites and email groups that gave out information on what was happening in Lebanon during the 2006 campaign (and also during the 2008/2009 Gaza adventure), but again these attempts by groups such as the “Internet Haganah” and “Sofir” and others such as the IDF Spokesman to cover the truth of the Zionist atrocities were futile and never achieved their goals and indeed will never achieve their goals.

Thirty-three days after starting their adventure in Lebanon in July 2006, the Zionists were forced to leave, under the pretext and protection of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. The Zionists left, with their “home-front” exposed, their military in disarray, their “elite brigades” completely demoralized, and without having achieved any of their war objectives.
The Zionist left Lebanon in 2006 far weaker than when they entered; in 33 days they had been devastated.

The Resistance on the other hand, became much stronger, and today the Resistance enjoys a place of honour and dignity not only in Lebanese society but in the hearts of the Arabs and Muslims in the streets, and across the world, from Los Angeles, to Okinawa, from Reykjavik to Sydney and everywhere in between. Indeed one of the slogans of the various demonstrations against the Zionist Campaign in 2006 was “We are all Hezbollah!”.

In 2008/2009 when the Zionists made their campaign in Gaza, they again got a taste of defeat and humiliation; this time in 22 days they were forced to abort their attempt to re-occupy the Gaza Strip, and were forced to leave, again dragging their tail between their legs. Once again, the world over, at demonstrations against the Zionist campaign against Gaza, slogans such as “We are all Hamas!” could be clearly heard.

In the opinion of many analysts, the morale of the heroic Gazans was boosted by the fact that in the 21st Century, it was an absolute fact that even a small resistance movement – while ill equipped militarily, but with determination and the sheer will to not be subjugated – could hurt and bring to its knees the well equipped Zionist Entity.

The Gazans were confident that the victory of blood over the swords of the aggressors was guaranteed; they had but to be patient and continue the resistance, but that over time, they would achieve victory.

At this juncture, I am reminded of a speech, delivered in 2002 by Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of Hezbollah, wherein he said (and I’m paraphrasing):
“When a person thinks of resistance against an aggressor, the person must not think that they will see victory themselves, rather they should work in a manner that victory may take generations, but that every action will make that victory closer and closer.”

It was this philosophy and mentality, that gave Lebanon victory, and it would be this same mentality that will guarantee victory to Palestine.

The liberation of Lebanon in 2000, heralded a paradigm shift in the entire balance of power in the region; it proved that the people DO have the power; that might is NOT right; and that resistance IS the way to remove the yoke of occupation and secure freedom and dignity for the people.

Within the Zionist Entity itself, it is clear that the morale of the Israelis is weak and weakening daily. According to several reports there is a massive exodus of people from Israel to their home countries. There is a growing movement of refuseniks, Israeli military personal who refuse to serve in Lebanon, or the Occupied Palestinian territories, and generally there is uneasiness and insecurity in Israel, people do not feel comfortable, some reports suggest there is a correlation with the increased isolation of the Zionist Entity, and the rise in organised crime within Israel, in particular the Israeli Mafia. There are also reports indicating a rise in the rate of suicides in Israel, especially amongst soldiers who have served in Lebanon or the Occupied Palestinian territories, since 2000.

Across the rest of the world, there is a growth of people who will no longer remain silent and watch passively as the Zionists continue to occupy and oppress the Palestinians and threaten others around the world who oppose the Zionist project. Testimony to this are the various humanitarian missions; such as the Viva Palestina missions attempting to get aid to Gaza, that have persisted despite attempts by the Zionists and their allies to block them, as well as the anti-Zionist shifts in policy shown by various countries such as Turkey and Venezuela.

There is a growth in the Global BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) Movement against Israel and Zionism, we can see that there have been a number of academic institutions that are cutting ties with their Israeli counterparts.

The propaganda spewed by the Zionist lobby, equating any criticism of Zionism as being anti-Semitic are no longer considered accurate anymore, and fewer and fewer people are accepting that anti-Zionism is anti-Semitism.

There is a growth in the number of Jewish anti-Zionist activists, notables include the Neturei Karta, academics such as Norman Finkelstein, whose parents were survivors of the Nazi holocaust.

More and more people, can now see that the crimes and activities of the Zionists in Palestine bear striking similarities to the crimes committed by the Nazis against the Jews and other minorities during World War Two, and indeed many are no longer afraid to say that Zionism is in fact Nazism with another name. The world is no longer passively going to accept that everything the Zionists and Israel say and do is justified to “ensure its survival”.

The global economic crisis is further straining even those countries who previously supported the Zionists, and forcing them to rethink whether they can realistically afford to continue funding the Zionist project while their own coffers are running dry.

As more information on the Zionist crimes is made available through the internet, through independent news outlets and the rise of grassroots movement using new media and the social web as campaigning grounds and places to give information on the Zionist atrocities, the excuse of ignorance is no longer valid.

We can see the plots and activities of the Zionists are now starting to create a wave of contempt and disapproval, and indeed are even irking some of their closest allies in Washington and London. Plots and activities such as their assassination in Damascus of the Hezbollah Commander Imad Moghniyyeh in 2008, through to their murder of Hamas Leader, Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai at the start of 2010.

These activities rather than giving the Zionists respect amongst the people of the world, and achieving their goals of breaking the Resistance, are in fact forcing even their allies to distance themselves, and indeed are making the Resistance bloc stronger.

With each passing day, the Zionists become more detested by the peoples of the world, and in their last moments they make more strategic blunders. These mistakes can be likened unto the flapping around of a fish that has found itself outside it’s comfort zone of being in water, it flaps around, with no real gain, and ultimately it dies, suffocating itself.

The secretary general of Hezbollah has said in his last few speeches, that should the Zionists make a new adventure into Lebanon, or if they attack any of the Resistance bloc countries (Iran, Syria and Lebanon) like they are threatening, they should be aware, that the ensuing war would change the face of the region.

Israeli analysts are also in agreement, they know that Israel cannot tolerate another defeat such as those in 2006 in Lebanon and 2008/2009 in Gaza, where countless millions of US taxpayer dollars were spent and all types of banned and illegal munitions were dropped on innocents, yet not a single solitary war objective was achieved.

This is why, Israel, while constantly sabre rattling and threatening, deep down knows that it must not blindly go into war again, as it doesn’t know the capabilities of the Resistance bloc, but it does know that it has been defeated twice in succession in the last 5 years. It also knows that the era of its military superiority over its enemies has passed. It knows that it has been over 30 years since Zionists could say that they have won in a military conflict.

Previously the war was asymmetric in favour of the Israeli side, since the 2000 victory of the resistance in Lebanon this is no longer the case. If proof was needed, then 2006 and 2008/2009 are clear examples that Israel can no longer consider itself as “untouchable” in warfare, even with its multi-billion dollar weaponry, it cannot fight against the will of a people to survive and hold their heads up with dignity.

This reminds us of something that Condoleezza Rice, the former US Secretary of State had said during the Israeli bombardment of Lebanon in 2006. She said that these were the “birth pangs of a new middle east”.

I think she was right, only she didn’t understand what was happening.

This victory in Lebanon against the Zionist invasion reinforced the victory of 2000 when the Zionists were first humiliated and forced to vacate Lebanon. This has resulted in the birth of a new phenomena in the world – the Resistance bloc. A movement that proves that resistance to aggression can, and indeed has, achieved positive and tangible results. So yes, Condi Rice was right, 2006 did herald in a new middle east.

A middle east (and indeed world), that chooses resistance over humiliation. In this new world, we will see justice and dignity prevail, following a time when the world is filled with injustice and tyranny.

Washington says “all options are on the table” in dealing with Tehran, in a veiled threat, which refers to a new US nuclear policy.

During a Sunday address to attendees of a Pentagon briefing, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates touched on the newly-crafted Nuclear Posture Review (NPR), under which the Obama administration promises not to use nuclear weapons against states that do not possess nuclear warheads, with the exception of Iran.

Gates asserted that the 22,000-word Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) does not apply to countries such as Iran and North Korea because they belong to a certain category of states that Washington will never limit its options against.

The US defense secretary further added that the Obama administration is taking measures to apply a policy of “no first use of nuclear weapons”. However, he asserted, the administration is not ready to fully relinquish its right for pre-emptive strikes.

The NPR was met with instant condemnation in Iran, which has been a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) since 1968, yet was excluded from the list of non-atomic states insured against US nuclear weapons.

The United States is the first country in the world to develop such weapons, and is the only country to have used them in wartime.

Washington officials, notably those in the White House, are driven by the notion that Iran is attempting to build nuclear weapons.

Tehran has rejected the claims, saying that its uranium enrichment is intended solely for peaceful civilian applications such as the production of electricity and radio medicines.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in a message to the Tehran conference on April 17, declared the use of weapons of mass destruction as haram (forbidden in Islam).

Iran regards utilizing nuclear weapons as haram and it is incumbent on everyone to safeguard humanity from such weapons, the Leader stated in his message.

Khazaii said the proposal for official registration of the Leader’s message and the final statement of the Tehran conference was submitted to the UN secretary general and the Security Council chairman and it was approved by the countries’ ambassadors to the UN.

The senior Iranian diplomat also said the nuclear disarmament conference was clear evidence proving Iran’s opposition to the proliferation of nuclear weapons. The diplomat also urged the international community to heed the dangers of failing to fully observe the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

He added that the Leader’s message shows that Iran is sincere in its drive to use nuclear energy only for peaceful purposes.

Imam Khamenei(HA) the Leader of the Muslim Ummah met today with a large number of nurses from across the country on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of Zeinab al-Kubra (s.a.). Speaking at the meeting, Imam Khamenei(HA) referred to the US President’s implicit threat to use nuclear weapons against Iran and reiterated: “The implied atomic threat will have no effect on the Iranian nation, but this threat will be a source of disgrace in the political history of America and a black spot in the record of the American government.”

His Eminence reiterated that the threat clearly revealed the true nature of America’s love for peace and humanity and its commitment to international atomic treaties. “This threat revealed what lies behind the hand of friendship extended towards the Iranian nation.”

Imam Khamenei(HA) reiterated that nuclear powers, particularly the US, seek nuclear weapons in order to dominate the world and added: “None of the world’s nuclear powers adhere to international treaties on nuclear weapons and clearly tell lies in this regard. But when other countries seek to use nuclear technology, they accuse those countries of breaching international treaties. This is because they do not want to have any rivals in this regard.”

His Eminence touched on the nuclear policies of the Islamic Republic and stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not seek to acquire weapons of mass destruction. “But the Iranian nation will not surrender to threats and bullying and will bring those who make threats against the Iranian nation to their knees.”

The Leader of the Muslim Ummah reiterated that international communities should not easily pass over the US President’s nuclear threat against the Islamic Republic and added: “On what basis does the US president threaten to use nuclear weapons against the Iranian nation? This is a threat against humanity and global peace and security. And no one in the world should dare to even utter such a threat.”

The Leader of the Muslim Ummah said that the Iranian nation is invincible when faced with such threats and reiterated that the Iranian nation will not let the US re-establish its dominance over the Iranian nation by issuing such threats.

Imam Khamenei(HA) said that the Iranian nation will make progress in all fields despite the will of the enemies and added that the increasing faith and insight of the Iranian people and youth will help them overcome all threats and plots.

He described Zeinab al-Kubra (s.a.) as a role model for humanity and added that she was the Iranian nation’s role model at different stages of the Islamic Revolution. “The main factor behind the power and influence of the Iranian nation is its faith, and this nation will, by Allah’s favor, move forward in all areas. And it will overcome all threats and machinations relying on its increasing faith and insight,” he reiterated.

Imam Khamenei(HA) said that the Islamic Revolution was influenced by the historic movement of Zeinab al-Kubra and stated that faith and spirituality affected the power and greatness of the Revolution. He further added that it is the influence of prominent religious figures, including Zeinab al-Kubra (s.a.), which has caused the Iranian nation to become an inspiring and powerful element in the world of Islam.

His Eminence stressed that Iran’s power is not dependant on its military weapons, further reiterating: “Of course the Iranian nation has made quantum leaps in the field of defensive weapons, but religious faith of the people is the main factor behind the power and greatness of this Islamic country.”

Elsewhere in his speech, Imam Khamenei(HA) touched on the improper and misguided methods used by the west when dealing with women and said that western countries try to promote the belief that abandoning hijab will bring about dignity for women, while this will only humiliate women.

He also stated that women played the most prominent role during the Revolution and the Sacred Defense Era.

I congratulate all Iranians living in our vast and dear country on Nowruz and the beginning of the year, the first day of spring and the rebirth of nature. I also congratulate all Iranians living in other parts of the world, those who have great hopes for their country.

I would especially like to congratulate the youth, men and women, who have made great sacrifices for the high goals of the revolution and the country; those who have dedicated their lives and their youth for the revolution and the prosperity of our country; the honorable families of the martyrs, war-disabled veterans and their families and all those who work for the prosperity of the country.

And I would like to pay tribute to our great Imam Khomeini, the founder of this massive movement of people, the one who started the development of the great Islamic Republic of Iran.

Nowruz is the beginning of growth, this growth, as felt in the nature, can take shape in our hearts and mind in our movement towards development.

Let’s take a look back at the year 1388 which is coming to an end, if we want to describe the year 1388 in one sentence, I think it would be the year of the Iranian nation, the year of victory for this great nation, the year of historic and effective participation of this nation in spheres linked to the destiny of our great Revolution and great country.

In the early months of the year 1388, people, with their unprecedented participation, organized an election which was unprecedented in the history of our Revolution and in our country’s long history; an outstanding point of our history.

During the following months, again, people in a big test and in a big and historic movement demonstrated their participation, determination, perseverance, national resolve and their wisdom.

As a brief interpretation of the events in the months following the elections, I can say the enemies of the country and the enemies of the Islamic Republic concentrated all their efforts and power on defeating this Revolution from within itself.

Our nation stood against this fiendish plot and vicious act and brought the enemy to his knees with outstanding wisdom, perseverance and resolve.

What happened during the eight months after the election until the 22nd of Bahman (Feb. 11) has been an experience full of lessons and warnings and has actually been a source for the Iranian nation.

The nation acted brilliantly in the year 1388, and the officials also made great and admirable efforts, these efforts were considerable and deserve admiration; it is the duty of all impartial observers to appreciate these efforts and work done for the sake of the country’s prosperity and development in different spheres. Officials have made great achievements in scientific and industrial spheres, in social affairs and foreign policy. May God reward them all and grant them the opportunity to make further achievements.

What my observation of the current status of the country and the huge capacity of this great nation and country tell me is that what we have done, what the officials and people have done is not much given the huge capacity of the country for development.
We are obliged to struggle more and make more efforts, much more than before.
This part of the prayer we recite in the year’s transition is interesting when we say “transform our being to the very best.” It does not say “make us feel better or bring us better days,” it calls for the best happenings, best days and best situation.
This is the high aspiration of a Muslim; he wants to reach the best in all spheres.
This year we need to multiply our efforts to achieve what this prayer has taught us in accordance with the country’s necessities and capacity. We need to increase the level our work.

I have named this year as “further diligence and further work,” hoping that all officials along with people with higher aspiration and intensified work can take higher steps and move closer toward our high goals in different fields including the economic, cultural, political, civil and social fields.

We need this furthered diligence; our country needs this redoubled work. We need to trust God, seek God’s help, we should know the ground has been prepared for more work.

Our enemies target our nation’s knowledge and devotion, we should intensify our knowledge and devotion, with God’s help the roads will be paved, barriers will be removed, and God’s help and victory will assist our nation and authorities.
